E2E Home Design

Home design easily using personalized styling and functional recommendation

Many applications for home design are already equipped with some impressive and useful technological capabilities such as: AR, 3D display, scanning the measurements of the house by mobile phone or by uploading an existing architectural file. Even the possibility to scan furniture we already own, and use it in the project, already exists.

I set out to do user research, in order to find out:
What pain points have not yet been solved?

Main challenges

Understanding the style, identifying design elements, matching items and colors

Adaptation to current and future needs, personal tips, division into critical and secondary stages

The need to prioritize, difficulty estimating the cost of the project

From the users’ answers, I concluded that they can’t handle many of the terms and professional subtleties that are part of the design process. It became very clear that professional feedback and insights regarding their needs and preferences are missing.

And another surprising facts:
42% of those who chose the economic challenge didn’t even have a budget to begin with.

The reason why many people didn’t define a budget but still had some concern regarding the costs may be because of the fact that most of them have a financial framework, whether they define it in advance or not.We can’t always buy everything at once. We need help planning in advance and assistance on how to maximize the budget we currently have

Home design & online shopping:
72% of the users who shop online
prefer not to take the risk with buying something significant and purchase only decorations and items without high financial risk.

why?

  • They aren’t sure of how the item will fit in the space and with other items in the house
  • Not sure if it will meet the functional needs
  • Uncertainty regarding the quality of the item
  • A desire to get a better deal from the seller by buying wholesale

The app will learn the user’s needs, preferences and future plans by a general introduction questionnaire, dedicated questionnaires for each room and by following the various choices and changes made throughout the design process.

E2E Complete custom design for each room. Including items tailored to the user’s needs. In addition, the possibility of combining old furniture and fitting new ones. Several different options for placing items in the space will be provided for each design.

Giving confidence to the user to make manual changes and optimizations. For example: promotions, items or renovations that are worth purchasing together. Identification of design elements and styles liked by the user. Solutions for future needs that can be combined and more.

Product pages with special attention to the user’s pain points for each product. Let’s take a refrigerator as an example: we’ll show an illustration of the internal division, the tools and the quantities that go into each part of the refrigerator. In addition, reviews and ratings: How well does the product fit with the style chosen so far?

Add items, examine them in the design context with the ability to purchase them in the future rather than right now. The choices and preferences will be saved until the user will be able to make another purchase
